۞~ My Lost Corner ~۞

Keep it pure ..but never give up !

Origami ..isn't waste of time :P

Some paper-made artistic 3D models :
They're all single-sheet folds !

I feel like I saw that 'tree frog' as a logo in a website ,but I've a fuzzy memory about it ...anyone saw it before ?

Also One of the prominent scenes in Prison Break (a TV series) is Michael Scofield's (Wentworth Miller) use of an origami crane/swan to hide cryptic messages and codes for his cohorts.....(for those who know about it )

This kind of art is totally a waste of time ,what would be useful out of folding pieces of papers ?
Frankly ,this was my first thought :P

But it turned over to be something has an engineering implantation in it ,actually mathematical and computational algorithms .
This art is called origami: (a ancient Japanese art of paper-folding) . this photo shows some works for Robert J. Lang who is an origami artist . He uses maths to analyze folding patterns and create origamis with hundreds of folds and sophisticated curves. "Most people still think that origami is flapping birds made of paper, but it's really become something much more sophisticated -- thank to mathematics."

More about that man :
Lang has a master's in electrical engineering from Stanford and a Ph.D. from Caltech in applied physics, and also holds 80 patents. But eight years ago, he left his profession to devote himself full-time to his life long passion, origami.!!!!!!!!

Why a physicist dropped everything for paper folding?!

He says of origami, “It’s like math. It’s just out there waiting to be discovered.”
in wonderful profile about him :"The Origami Lab",
He was commissioned to design a pouch for sterile medical instruments that could be opened without having a non-sterile surface touch any sterile surface, and a cell-phone antenna that had to fit inside the body of the phone.
For what I've read about him so far, he had just end up getting paid to play at work.
He knows how to use such modeling softwares and implement it in his art .so it's science in art .
he had created origami on-demand product , including graphics, ads, and commercials. This for example is a video ad for Mitsubishi: everything in the ad is an origami, except the car.

The "extreme folding" structures developed for origamis turn out to have applications in medicine, science, and engineering: things like packing airbags, heart implants and spaceship and space telescope parts into the smallest possible places. "An origami, someday, may even save a life".
This man is with no doubt a creative scientist /artist ,call him what you want :P

Try it out by yourself ,If you've plenty of time of course :D !
watching couple of online videos ,I managed to play with a piece of paper ,why not ?
here's to start Origami for Beginners.

Origami is great , I like it very much .. I loved it more since I knew about its relationship to maths because I love mathematics too ^^;
really origami is one of the interesting things in the Japanese culture ^^
I'm also a fan of Prison Break ^^
thanks for mitsubishi video ^^

Origami is very nice art, and everyone can imagine it on his own way.
"Origami is like mathematics" wow! i think i will concentrate more on learning origami from now on!^^ I'm a maths' lover after all^^
very nice post! thanks,,Arigatou!
